Look what turns 50 today ~ Sly and The Family Stone release their 4th and most successful album on May 3, 1969. Later that summer, they’d ride the crest of its success with a celebrated performance at Woodstock. It’s #118 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and in 2015, the album was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and selected for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.
