Holy lead guitars and movie stars … The Rolling Stones Announce ‘Goats Head Soup’ Reissue 

The Rolling Stones will reissue their 1973 studio album Goats Head Soup in various formats including super deluxe box sets via Polydor/Interscope/UMe on September 4. Included in the box set, deluxe CD and vinyl editions are 10 bonus tracks consisting of alternate versions and outtakes. Three of the tracks are previously unreleased with “Criss Cross” — out today — among them.

Some Girls 

The Rolling Stones release my fav album from The Boys on June 9, 1978. The original album cover featured the likenesses of some fairly famous people who didn’t like the fact they were featured on a Stones album and sued. Their images were removed and album cover #2 was quickly reissued. It’s also the first album to feature Woody, who joined the band for good just before the recording.

And, it’s #269 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The “Some Girls” tour was nothing short of epic. I got to participate on a Saturday in July at Soldier Field in Chicago. A weekend in Chicago with The Stones — magical.

Today’s a marquee day for Stones Fan.

On April 23, 1971, “Sticky Fingers” is released. Andy Warhol came up with the design for the classic. I bought it and another album in ’76 and promptly got grounded after I put it up on the wall of my bedroom. “Sticky Fingers” is full of all kinds of history.

It’s #63 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
