The singer has become a legend in her own right and hasn’t had to be as nearly prolific as some of her other counterparts who sit at the top table of British music. Instead, Bush has worked her career how she intended it to be, only creating music that she loves, not giving her life over to the record executives behind the scenes and, by doing so, has kept her artistic intent pure and relatively untouched.

Behind the Song: Peter Gabriel, “Games Without Frontiers” « American Songwriter

In the case of “Games Without Frontiers,” the tricky part was the refrain floated throughout the song by a young Kate Bush on backing vocals. Because most people expected a British singer to yield English lyrics, they assumed that Bush was saying the word “She” at the start of the line in question. After that, though? “She’s so popular?” “She’s so funky, yeh?” “She’s a mountain babe?”
