August 3, 1987 ~ Def Leppard release “Hysteria.”

The album is a testament to friendship and fortitude and what it means to be “a band.” It follows their breakthrough “Pyromania” but is delayed mainly because of the horrific car accident involving drummer Rick Allen. The accident cost him an arm and the band, even though they needed to build on the success of “Pyromania” as soon as possible, never thought for a minute to abandon Allen and find a new drummer. The loyalty proved worthy.

“Hysteria” is their most successful of all albums and the associated tour was one of the biggest of all time.

“Hysteria” is #464 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
