Andy Warhol, who made his mark on the music world as manager for the The Velvet Underground and designer of the Rolling Stones lips logo, is born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Today’s a marquee day for Stones Fan.

On April 23, 1971, “Sticky Fingers” is released. Andy Warhol came up with the design for the classic. I bought it and another album in ’76 and promptly got grounded after I put it up on the wall of my bedroom. “Sticky Fingers” is full of all kinds of history.

It’s #63 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Released on March 12, 1967, panned by critics and a colossal failure sales-wise, The Velvet Underground and Nico has become one of the most influential and important rock albums in poular music history.  By 2002, it ranked #13 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

In 2006, it was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.
