Back in the day, The (Say it with me!) Exclusive Company would pump the tunes outside the store to the sidewalk. Back in December ‘75, I was headed to downtown Oshkosh for some Christmas shopping and while most other businesses were playing Christmas music, The Exclusive Company was playing this recently released album. I walked in and yelled to Walter “What … is this,” He yelled right back at me, “P-Funk!” and held up the album.
I purchased was one for myself — my Christmas gift to myself.

Betty Davis has released her first new song in 40 years. The funk and soul musician, who was briefly married to Miles Davis and whose cult status was re-affirmed last decade when her three 1970’s albums were re-issued by Light In The Attic, recently sat down for a rare interview with The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, her local paper since she relocated to the area after getting out of the music business in the ’80s.
