The Doors release their debut album on January 4, 1967. Many consider it one of the greatest albums of all time.

It’s #43 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and in 2015, the Library of Congress included it in the National Recording Registry “…based on its cultural, artistic or historical significance.”


Volunteers turns 50 …

… and its relevance is stronger than ever.

November 20, 1969 ~ “Volunteers” was a great big middle finger to the Establishment back in 1969. The Viet Nam war was raging on and on and on and the Airplane wanted a revolution. Not a metaphorical revolution — they wanted blood in the streets.

While it’s probably just what we need right now it’s probably never going to happen. You have to give a shit. And sadly, people just don’t give a shit about democracy anymore.
