The Piano man releases his 12th and final studio album on August 10, 1993. Then wife Christie Brinkley does the album cover. Not one of my favs but Rolling Stone dug it and gave her a Top Picks award for “The Best Album Cover of the Year.”

Milwaukee’s own Citizen King releases their debut album on August 8, 1995. It wasn’t until 1999 and the release of “Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out) that they really really became a household name.
TP reconvenes The Heartbreakers to put together some music for Ed Burns’ movie of the same name. Rick Rubin help Tom and Mike Campbell with the production and the result ends up being arguably one of the best movie soundtrack albums.
BTW, pick either version of “Walls” and I think you’ve got some of the best melodies and songwriting around.
311 release their 4th album on August 5, 1997. It’s immediately panned by critics and fans as the band drifts from their rap-infused past. However, as time goes on, the album is embraced and enjoys a cult following leading the band to perform it in its entirety in 2011. Time is a hero.
